Something truly spectacular is coming to Wolverhampton – and local businesses are invited to be part of it. Trail of the Dragons is a bold new public art trail arriving in summer 2027, transforming the city with 30 large-scale dragon sculptures, each uniquely designed by artists from across the region and beyond. Delivered by Compton Care in partnership with Wild in Art, the trail will bring colour, creativity and curiosity to Wolverhampton for nine unforgettable weeks – while raising vital funds for local hospice care.

A trail that brings people together

Dragons will appear across key locations in the city, forming a free, family-friendly trail that encourages people to explore Wolverhampton, discover new places and experience the city in a whole new way.
With thousands of residents, visitors and day-trippers expected to take part, Trail of the Dragons will:

  • Drive increased footfall to city centre and neighbourhood locations
  • Create a buzz across social media and local press
  • Showcase Wolverhampton as a place of creativity, pride and ambition
  • Support Compton Care to continue providing specialist care for people living with life-limiting conditions
  • The event also marks Compton Care’s 45th anniversary, making it a powerful moment to reflect on the charity’s impact – and look ahead to the future.

Why sponsor a dragon?

Sponsoring a dragon is a unique opportunity for businesses to align themselves with a high-profile, feel-good event that captures hearts and imaginations.
As a dragon sponsor, your organisation will benefit from:
Reaching new audiences and increasing brand visibility through a major city-wide campaign
Prominent logo placement on your sponsored sculpture, the Trail of the Dragons website and mobile app
The chance to work with and select an artist, helping shape the final design of your dragon
VIP invitations to exclusive launch, networking and celebration events
Powerful association with a well-loved local charity and a landmark cultural moment

It’s creative sponsorship with real community impact – and goodwill that lasts far beyond the trail itself.

A lasting legacy

At the end of the summer, each dragon will spread its wings one final time at a special auction event, where the sculptures will find permanent new homes. Every dragon sold will help raise essential funds, supporting Compton Care’s work across Wolverhampton and the Black Country.

Be part of the adventure

Trail of the Dragons is more than an art trail – it’s a shared celebration of creativity, community and compassion. By sponsoring a dragon, your business can help shape a once-in-a-generation event for Wolverhampton, while making a meaningful difference to local people and families.
