A core part of Trail of the Dragons is inspiring young minds, nurturing creativity, and creating a legacy that lives on through our younger generation.

We are delighted to invite schools and community groups to take part in Compton Care’s Trail of the Dragons Hatchling Programme – an inspiring creative opportunity that puts young people at the heart of a spectacular public art event.

The Hatchling Programme gives your school or group the chance to design and decorate your very own baby dragon sculpture, which will be displayed as part of the public Trail of the Dragons. This is a unique opportunity to showcase your creativity to thousands of visitors, while helping to raise awareness of – and vital funds for – Compton Care, supporting people and families living with life limiting conditions.

Taking part in the Hatchling Programme offers far more than a memorable art project. It can be mapped to the Arts Award, supporting your journey towards Artsmark status, and provides clear evidence of your commitment to creative learning. The programme also supports your Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural (SMSC) responsibilities, helping to build pupils’ cultural capital, confidence and creative skills.

Your Hatchling Dragon
As part of the programme, your learners will work together to design and decorate a baby dragon sculpture, guided by your own ideas and imagination. Once complete, your hatchling will take pride of place alongside other dragons in a prominent public location for the duration of the trail, where it will be enjoyed by the wider community.

At the end of the trail, all the dragons – big and small – will come together for a special farewell moment, giving visitors one final chance to experience the full collection. While the large dragon sculptures will be auctioned to raise vital funds for Compton Care, your hatchling dragon will be returned to you to keep forever as a lasting reminder of your involvement in this unforgettable project.

We’re confident that once you hear about the Trail of the Dragons Hatchling Programme, you’ll want to be part of this unmissable creative experience. There is a registration fee to take part, which helps cover project costs, and we warmly encourage additional fundraising by your school or group. Every pound raised contributes directly to Compton Care’s work, helping us provide compassionate care and specialist support to local people who need it most.

Join us, unleash your creativity, and help bring the Trail of the Dragons to life.
